A SWISS SILVER MACE

Jean-Francois Grand (1689-1736) was born in Lausanne and became a first officer in the service of the Dutch Republic, he then accumulated different honourable licenses: member of the Lausanne Justice in 1719, châtelin of St-Sulpice in 1722, of the Conseil des Seigneurs in 1723 and of Eculblens in 1737. Above all, he became Juge de la Justice Inferieure of Lausanne in 1758. He was the owner of an estate in Bassenges and from 1722 of a house called “Le Lion d’Or” rue de Bourg. He married in 1711 Marguerite, daughter of Ferdinand Bergier, seigneur de Pont, and had 9 children, among them Rodolphe-Ferdinand Grand.
