This special edition Sea-Dweller was launched in 2008 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the scuba divers institution of the Italian State Police. A total of only 78 examples were made and given to the divers, rendering the present reference 16600 one of the rarest and most collectible versions of this celebrated model.

The dials are distinguished by a small octopus, the symbol of the Italian State Police Scuba Diving unit, the backs are engraved with the commemorative inscription Polizia di Stato, Sommozzatori, 1958 - 2008.

Reference 16600 "Polizia di Stato, Sommozzatori 1958-2008 is prominently illustrated on the cover of Rolex Submariner Story by Franca e Guido Mondani, Lele Ravagnani, Guido Mondani Editore, and described and illustrated on pp. 200 - 203.
