He notes that this portrait as well as a portrait of the sitter's sister, Mrs. James Menteith (Mackie no. 531); Christie's, New York, 10 October 1991, lot 164), was made by the artist for the sitters' father, Robert Thomson o-Camphill, and was paid for by 20 October 1821. It is to be included in his forthcoming publication Complete Catalogue of Raeburn.
