Cal. L951.1 mechanical movement, 40 jewels, finely-hand engraved balance cock, screwed gold chatons, black dial, applied Roman and baton numerals, luminous hands, outer five minute divisions and raised tachometer scale, large double date aperture, two silvered engine-turned subsidiary dials for 30 minute register and constant seconds, large circular case, date change button in the band, two rectangular chronograph buttons in the band, sapphire crystal display back secured by six screws, platinum A. Lange & Söhne deployant clasp, case, dial, and movement signed

The Datograph Flyback was introduced at the 1999 Baselworld, and featured a precisely jumping minute counter and patented oversized date display. The jumping minute counter allows for easy reading of the stopped time, and the flyback function allows the chronograph to be instantaneously reset to zero during an ongoing measurement by pressing the reset chronograph button.
