A collection of c.71 leaves from five Bibles, ranging in size from 158 x 112mm to 278 x 202mm, with 45-60 lines of text, all with blue and red chapter numbers and running titles, all but one with flourished initials.

Including 7 leaves from a folio bible [England, c.1220s], 275 x 202mm, two columns of 60 lines, originating from an English monastic library and with marginalia in English hands, from the collection of OTTO EGE (on the parent volume see Sotheby's, 6 November 1985, lot 49); 32 leaves from a fine quarto bible [Italy, 2nd half 13th century], 235 x 170mm, including several bifolia and many consecutive leaves, two columns of 48 lines written in a fine gothic hand, text capitals touched red, marginal notes in a modern hand, two in card mounts (some original flaws and holes); 32 similar leaves from England, France and Italy (light wear to the edges of some leaves and staining in the margins).
