Each circular, the scalloped border decorated with gilt-foliate scrollwork and moulded floral wreath on a beige and pink ground, the centre painted with a view, within a gilt cavetto, one inscribed in Russian 'View of the Neva river, from the main staircase of the Im[perial] Aca[demy] of Arts.' signed and dated '1844. S: Doladugin.', another inscribed in Russian 'View of the Palace Embankment', signed and dated '1843 I: Semenov.', each with incised factory mark under base
