A CERAMIC CABINET PLATE

Viktorina Anatol'evna Zosts (1903-1974) was the daughter of a Justice of the Peace, living in St Petersburg. Following the death of their parents during the Revolution, Viktorina and her brother Valerii (together with the professor of the Latvian conservatory, a famous draughtsman) immigrated to Latvia with their nanny in 1918. In 1932 Viktorina graduated from the ceramics department of the Latvian Academy of Art, where she studied under Professor Rudolf Pelshe, known for his exceptional ceramics in the Art Deco style. Viktorina immigrated to Germany in 1941.

Anatol Pedan was the first art historian to publish biographical information on this artist in his 2011 publication accompanying the exhibition of his collection in Riga.
