Oval, one side decorated with the crowned cypher of Empress Catherine II, the reverse with the Russian inscription which reads: 'To the Victors (of) the Peace 29th December 1791', apparently unmarked
2 in. (5.1 cm.) long

Specialist note

The medal was established on 2 September 1793 during the reign of Empress Catherine II to commemorate the signing of the Peace Treaty of Jassy (upper Moldavia), on 29th December 1791, between the Russian and Ottoman Empires.
The medal was awarded to officers, petty officers, enlisted men and seamen, who had actively participated in the war against Turkey between 1787-1791.
