Inverted pear-shaped, cast and chased overall with putti amid foliage, scrolls, rocaille and lion's masks, further cast and chased with panels of chinoiserie scenes and with a scroll spout, issuing from a lion's mask, the hinged cover with foliage finial, the stand similarly cast and with a central lamp with detachable cover, marked under kettle, on stand, inside cover and inside lamp cover

Possibly Sir Peter Byrne Leicester 4th Bt. (1732-1770) and then by descent to

Specialist note

The present lot is not engraved with a crest or coat-of-arms, however the 1927 Leicester-Warren sale also included a pair of small oval trays also by Paul de Lamerie, which were engraved with the contemporary arms of Leicester for the 4th baronet, which suggests that the kettle may have been commissioned by him.
