Specialist note

The exquisitely pleated yellow and ivory crepe shows the new 'gamine' sporty influence on fashion of the mid 1920s. The gouache illustrated here shows the original design was for a longer dress. It is a possibility that it may have been shortened to make it more fashionably in line with the hemlines of the mid 1920s.
