Specialist note

With Rolex fitted green wooden presentation box and outer packaging.

The present watch is an early version of the 16523 series. It features a dial from the second generation with no mention of "officially certified" also-known as "4-liner" with a much sought after first generation bezel that is calibrated to 200 units whereas other series were calibrated to 400 units.

The 16500 series is further described in Rolex Daytona from birth to the myth by Carlo Pergola, Stefano Mazzariol and Giovanni Dosso, 2006, pp. 203.
