Each shaped circular, with gadrooned border, later engraved with a coat-of-arms below a crown of the Holy Roman Empire and a Duke's coronet, the backs further engraved with a number and scratchweight, each marked on reverse

The arms are those of Churchill quartering Spencer impaling Steward, for George, 5th Duke of Marlborough (1766-1817) and his wife Susan (d. 1841), daughter of John, 7th Earl of Galloway (1736-1806), whom he married in 1792.
