Each with acorn finials and cast acanthus branches and nozzles with cut-glass drip pans and suspended faceted drops and prisims, on a faceted ball and tapering stem with a circular base and four paw feet, the drip pans and additional parts with stamped numerals, some glass elements probably replaced

Similar candelabra executed by the Ludgate Hill glass-manufacturer John Blades, feature in the illustration of his 'Upper Show Room' published in 1823 (see M. Mortimer,The English Glass Chandelier, Woodbridge, Suffolk, 2000, p. 138, pl. 82 and end papers). A pair of three-light candelabra, remarkably similar in form with the same unusual crossed-foliate and spherical stem, paw feet and nozzles was sold Christie's, London, 6 July 2000, lot 3 (£15,862.50). Another pair with the same pattern feet and base was sold, 'Dealing in Excellence: A Celebration of Hotspur and Jeremy,' Christie's, London, 20 November 2008, lot 4.

A related 'girandole' manufactured by Messrs Pellatt and Green of St Paul's Churchyard was illustrated and described as 'peculiarly elegant' in the 1821 edition of R. Ackermann's Repository of Arts (see P. Agius, ed., Ackermann's Regency Furniture and Interiors, Wiltshire, 1984, p. 135, pl. 120.).
