Note du spécialiste

'Creation begins with the articulation of chaos. In an ocean of fluid colours from which all my work begins, I attain a total iconoclasm, and, through it, reach onto the flux beyond form from which the image emerges, unpredictably, autonomously' (Exhibition catalgoue, Redfern Gallery, Avray Wilson, London, 1960, unpaginated).
