A COLLECTION OF LEATHER ACCESSORIES INCLUDING A VICTORIAN GILT-TOOLED LETTER BOX

Dallington, a few miles from Althorp and on the outskirts of Northampton, was bought by Jack Althorp, later the 3rd Earl (1782-1845). It was the home of Charles Robert, Viscount Althorp, later 6th Earl Spencer (1857-1922) and his wife Margaret until her death in 1906. On the death of the 5th Earl in 1910, the new earl and his young children moved into Althorp. Dallington was occupied as a hospital during the war and in 1920 the 6th Earl gave it to the people of Northamptonshire as the 'Margaret Spencer Convalescent Home'.
