A VICTORIAN SILVER-GILT CUP AND COVER
MARK OF JOHN SAMUEL HUNT AND ROBERT ROSKELL, LONDON, 1866, THE DESIGN ATTRIBUTED TO THOMAS BROWN
Vase shaped and on spreading base cast and applied with the Beaufort arms, supporters, crest and coronet, the body cast and chased with a broad frieze depicting, on one side, King Charles I being greeted by Henry Somerset, 1st Marquess of Worcester and on the other Henry Somerset being created 1st Duke of Beaufort by King Charles II, the detachable cover with a finial cast as John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, holding a shield engraved with the Royal arms with a label for difference, applied with two figures emblematic of Loyalty and Patriotism, marked on neck, finial, base and arms, further marked inside cover, with an associated iron bound oak box, stencilled 'LORD JERSEY'
