CIRCA 1723-24, DREHER'S MARK TO FOOTRIMS
Painted in the manner of J.E. Stadler with an Oriental fisherman seated on rockwork by bamboo and a stylised building enriched in opal-lustre, surrounded by flowering shrubs within an iron-red lappet and pendant foliage and dot border (saucer with restored rim chip and associated small crack at 9 o'clock) (2)

Specialist note

A teabowl and saucer from the same service, formerly in the Otto Höffer Collection, was sold in these Rooms on 5th July 2004, lot 36. The Höffer teabowl and saucer also had the same slightly different borders on each piece. A bowl with similar decoration, probably from the same service, is illustrated by U. Pietsch, Early Meissen Porcelain Exhibition Catalogue (Lübeck, 1993), pp. 70-71, no. 56, where he discusses the differences between opal lustre used here, and Böttger lustre.
