In the Moorish taste, each of tear-drop form, the front finely painted with a turbaned gentleman either leading a donkey or holding a musket, within a gilt lappet surround, the reverse with a landscape, raised on a short rectangular foot

Specialist note

Théodore Eugène Leroy of Seine-Saint-Denis is recorded as a regular contributor to the Salon de la Société nationale des Beaux-Arts in the late 19th century. He also displayed 'emaux peints' at the Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle.
