Specialist note

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the movement and enamel dial in 1881 and their subsequent sale without case on 10 November 1881.

Patek Philippe split second chronograph watches featuring a regulator dial, placing the emphasis on the split second chronograph display as opposed to the traditional time display, are extremely rare.

To our best knowledge, only five split second chronograph watches with regulator dials and hunter cases, some of them American made, are known today. Each is thought to differ from the others either by case, the arrangement of the subsidiary dials horizontally or vertically, both hour and minute hand in the small hour dial or, as common for watches with regulator dials, with central minute hand.
