Rolex. A stainless steel automatic wristwatch with sweep centre seconds and bracelet
Lot 120 THE PROPERTY OF A EUROPEAN COLLECTOR

The following four lots, 120 - 123, display in a most interesting way how reference 5513 evolved over a span of two decades.

Launched in 1962, reference 5513 was depth rated to 200 meters (660 ft), fitted with an 8 mm. crown, crown guards, the bezel with minute divisions for the first fifteen minutes and silver triangle.

To the beholders eye, the most evidently recognisable change over the years was the layout and finish of the dial and the sequence of the depth rating and model designation on the lower half of the dial. In fact, pending the year of production and the designated market, the Submariner model name is sometimes on the upper line, in other instances on the lower line as well as the meter depth rating sometimes before the feet, sometimes after.
