Samia Halaby (Palestinan, b. 1936)

This painting was begun in 2002. It was first in several pieces, which the eventual owner was supposed to recompose like a puzzle. In 2003, she reduced them to two large pieces as a painting free of a wooden stretcher and thought of it as finished. Finally in 2008, she decided to attach the two pieces to a background and a stretcher.
Long attention to a work can refine it beyond the ordinary. The subject is essentially about love and procreation, about their beauty and their power and about all that this can be, both in Mankind and the Nature. The image of a seed of a woman's flower opens up to the sky, to rain and to sunshine, which represent the good things that make life possible. The bride gains potential and becomes powerful like the sky.
