Specialist note

With Rolex fitted green presentation box.

The present watch is a very rare and unusual hybrid model of the celebrated Submariner reference 5513, introduced into the market in 1962.

It features the black gloss dial with gilt printing, the minute marks positioned at the edge of the dial and the large "Rolex" crown, typical for the very first versions of reference 5513. Its case however, although clearly numbered 5513, has the characteristics of the earlier Submariner models, most notably the missing crown guards and the bezel with a smaller ring, the silver triangle and slightly elongated minute marks, matching the year of production of this watch, 1964.

In addition to its very good, original overall condition, the present watch furthermore impresses by the extremely attractive black gloss dial which over the year has taken a warm, dark brown color and the discoloration of the luminous material to numerals and hands showing a uniform beige tone.
