The rounded rectangular twin-flap top with reeded edge above a mahogany -lined frieze drawer inlaid with stylised anthemia between stylised palms, the reverse with conforming simulated drawer, on ring-turned tapering legs headed by reeded caps, on brass caps and castors, the handles original

George Oakley (d. 1840) was one of the pioneers of 'Buhl' inlay, a form of decoration that regained popularity during the early years of the Regency. The use of ebony inlay in this table with fashionable materials such as mahogany are characterisitic of the high quality furniture made by Oakley.
