Note du spécialiste
The 'Sunk Field and Bead' technique in the panels of this cellaret appears in the tables of the Edinburgh Book of Prices in 1811 and is characteristic of the work of cabinet-makers working around Edinburgh in the first half of the 19th century, among whom James Mein of Kelso and William Trotter (see also F. Bamford, A Dictionary of Edinburgh Furniture Makers, Leeds, 1983, pl. 59).
