A BLEU PERSAN LARGE TWO-HANDLED FLOWER-POT

The attribution of bleu persan is problematic, as discussed in John C. Austin, British Delft at Williamsburg, Williamsburg, 1994, p. 105, no. 91 where the author discusses a bulbous mug splashed in white in tin-glaze and attributes it to London on the basis of form. Fragments and sherds excavated at Jamestown in Virginia and at Brislington show the extensive use of this ornament but do not reveal the country of origin, see Michael Archer, Delftware, Tin-Glazed Earthenware of the British Isles, London, 1997, p. 113, cat. no.
