CIRCA 1815-20, possibly Scottish
With two opposing drawers and two opposing false drawers with brass handles, twin supports and pole stretcher, on square tapering downswept legs with brass castors
28¾ in. (72.5 cm.); 53½ in. (135.7 cm.) extended; 32 in. (81 cm.) flaps down; 23¾ in. (60.5 cm.)

Probably acquired by Sir John Gladstone for Seaforth House, Liverpool.

Specialist note

The distinctive stepped trestle may be a Scottish feature - as it also appears on an ebony-inlaid sofa table and matching breakfast table supplied to Sir David Hunter-Blair for Blairquhan around 1820.
