Field Marshal Count Johann Matthias von der Schulenburg (1661-1747).

Specialist note

Schulenburg was a prolific collector of portraits - by 1746, at least 199 of the 789 paintings and drawings in his collection at the Palazzo Loredan, Venice, were portraits of artists, European royals, family members, friends and others who had played an important role in Schulenburg's life (Binion, op. cit., pp. 75-76).
