Specialist note
The Submariner model was introduced to the market at the Basel Fair in 1954 after having been tested during Professor August Piccard's and his son Jacques' world record dive at a depth of 10,335 feet below the ocean's surface. The model underwent many changes over the years with new references being introduced. The reference 1680 added both the chronometer and date function to the Submariner.
A rare and unusual facet of the present watch is the dial which over the years has changed from black to a charismatic chocolate brown color.
