LATE 18TH CENTURY
Each with rectangular hinged top above two simulated drawers at the front and rear, one side with a long drawer above a short drawer, the other side with a simulated drawer above a short drawer, on square tapering legs, with brass caps and castors, the handles apparently original, one drawer stencilled 'CHARLES ST' and '957 C.H.T.', with Lanes of Truro depository label marked in ink '46/20', both tables with ivorine label stamped 'RESTORED BY CHARLES PERRY RESTORATIONS LTD., ST. ALBANS FOR PATRICIA VISCOUNTESS BOYD AFTER THE FIRE OF MARCH 1988 INCE CASTLE, SALTASH, CORNWALL', both hinged tops lacking book-rest, one top with ratchet, the other lacking ratchet and top of base reveneered accordingly
Each table: 30¼ in. (77 cm.) high; 24 in. (61 cm.) wide; 16 in. (40.5 cm.) deep (2)

Almost certainly William Lowther, 2nd Earl of Lonsdale (1787-1782), 14-15 Carlton House Terrace, London and by descent until 1947.
