Specialist note
Few contemporary Arab artists have devoted so much time, energy and passion to drawing as Hussein Madi, who feels an exuberant fascination for the visible world that reaches its peak in the fullness of his flowers, fruits, birds and horses, as well as in the splendid approaches to the feminine form.
Madi concentrates not so much on visible material or surfaces, such as the texture of the skin, but on beings and things. It is their specific form and volume which attracts him, and this is expressed by his articulation of them into lines and parts.
