Carved as an Akita puppy playing with a feather fan used in the tea ceremony, the puppy's fur incised and eyes inlaid in horn and ebony and the feather fan realistically carved and lightly stained, with a lacquered display stand decorated in gold hiramaki-e and nashiji with blossoming flowers on a roiro ground
9¼in. (23.4cm.) long; 2¼in. (6cm.) high
With paper attestation stating that the object was made by Hon'ami Kosuke, presented to the Meiji emperor, and later made a gift by the Taisho emperor, 1915.3.5
