Painted with groups of flowers and fruits framed by gilt trailing flowers and ribbon-tied palms, gilt garlands of flowers beneath the handles, the rims with gilt lines and pairs of palms

Specialist note

The impressive dinner service to which these coolers belong was made for Florent-Louis-Marie, comte du Châtelet-Lomont, who served as both Minister-Plenipotentiary of France to Austria and later as Ambassador to Great Britain. Delivered on 31 December 1767, the service included six seaux à topette at a cost 114 livres each. See D. Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, 2005, vol.
