Almost certainly supplied to Thomas Hope circa 1820 for The Deepdene, Surrey. Purchased from The Deepdene in the 1960s by Angus McBean, Esq.

Specialist note

When lot 186 (The Coade Stone lioneess from Deepdene) was offered at Christie’s in 1996, these medallions were placed on the associated mahogany base.
