“As someone who is Chinese by ethnicity, I have a special mission. I aim to reveal in my paintings the philosophy conveyed in “I Ching” (“Book of Changes”), which espouses the idea that the two of the most fundamental elements are endless and forever complementary. Yang or light is bright and passionate; Yin or shadow is cultivating and gentle. I constantly strive to combine traditional Western colours with the modern free-form of abstract art like the concept of yin and yang to create boundless cosmic phenomenas.” – CHU TEH-CHUN
