LONDON, 1710, BRITANNIA STANDARD, THE SNUFFERS WITH MARK OF AUGUSTIN COURTAULD AND THE TRAY WITH MARK OF ISAAC LIGER
On four scroll feet, the rectangular tray with cut-corners and moulded border, the side handle facetted and pear-shaped with baluster finial, each engraved with a differing coat-of-arms with earl's coronet above, marked to underside of tray, on scissors and cover, engraved with scratchweights 10=6 and 4=1
the tray 7 1/2 in. (19 cm.) long; the snuffers 6 in. (15.2 cm.) long
13 oz. 2 dwt. (430 gr.)
The arms on the tray are those of George Booth, 2nd Earl of Warrington (1675-1758), of Dunham Massey, Cheshire.
The arms on the snuffers are those of George Grey, 5th Earl of Stamford (1737-1819), grandson of the 2nd Earl of Warrington, and his wife, Henrietta Bentinck.
