Specialist note

This endangered species strap is shown for display purposes only and is not for sale. The watch will be supplied with a calf leather strap.

Reference 5040 was launched in 1992 and discontinued in 2007, the reference 5040 was produced in two series, the first series bearing movement numbers beginning in 77, the second series began in approximately 1998 with the movement numbers beginning with 312.

It was available in all gold colours as well as in platinum and is distinguished by its tonneau tortue case, a style typical of the 1920s and 1930s, but much less common in modern times. It is believed that only 600 pieces were made in platinum from which 30 are known from the market.
