Specialist note
This model was produced by Paul de Lamerie between 1731 and 1749 and is illustrated in E. Alcorn, Beyond the Maker's Mark, Paul de Lamerie Silver in the Cahn Collection, Cambridge, 2006, p. 83. Whilst borrowing from the French Régence style as popularised by Jean Bérain (1637-1711), with its architectural motifs and abstract panels of ornaments, they also display the first signs of the Rococo style.
