Specialist note

Michelangelo's famous statue of Moses is part of the tomb of Pope Julius II at the church of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome.
Pope Julius II (1443-1513), born Giuliano della Rovere and famously portrayed by Raphael, commissioned Michelangelo with the sculptural programme for his tomb in 1505. It was completed in 1545.
