MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985)
Paravent
lithograph in colors, on four sheets of smooth wove paper mounted to waxed oak folding screen (as issued), 1963, signed in black ink, numbered 30/100, published by Galerie Cramer, Geneva
Overall: 57 x 75 in. (1461 x 1905 mm.)

Specialist note

When this screen was being produced, Chagall consulted on every detail of its construction (mounting, wood, etc.). He also went to look at a great number of old screens so as to become thoroughly familiar with the decorative art of the Far East.
