A SHAHSEVAN SOUMAC KHORJIN

This Shahsevan khorjin, is one of many small but highly decorative weavings produced throughout the Near East and central Asia by the nomadic tribes' women which demonstrate a highly personal viewpoint of these largely anonymous weavers. Individually beautiful in their intricate designs and often quiet brilliant colour palettes, they were highly practical in transporting goods, of all sorts, tied on horseback during the migrating seasons.
