Specialist note

Fresh to the market, the present reference 1675 is an exceedingly rare example of a Rolex GMT-Master model made for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, featuring his signature. Preserved in exceptional original overall condition, its dial stands out by the evenly aged luminous material to numerals and hands, displaying a most charismatic cream-coloured tone, all enhanced by the very crisp red signature of His Highness Sheikh Al Maktoum.

The case has evidently only ever so slightly been polished and impresses with its full case proportions and the very well defined fluting to the lugs.
The movement has been serviced at Rolex Geneva during 2017 under the supervision of Christie’s. The watch is therefore delivered with Rolex Geneva International Service warranty and invoice dated 3 march 2017.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (born 15 July 1949) is the Vice President and the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and constitutional monarch of Dubai. He has held those positions since January 2006, when he succeeded his elder brother, Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum. In February 2006, he became Prime Minister of the UAE.

Presenting gifts is an important tradition in the Arab culture, with generosity and politeness being very significant aspects in this regard, and for some reason watches, particularly made by Rolex, appear to be among the favourite presents.
At the creation of the nation of the United Arab Emirates, founded on 2 December 1971, he became its first Minister of Defence, period when watches with his signature were ordered.
Watches personalized for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, especially in such outstanding original overall condition as the present example, are highly sought after in the international collector’s market.
