Reilly, Wedgwood, London, 1989, Vol. I, p. 650, fig. 991 for a green jasper dip vase (and pedestal) of the same form and decorated with the same subject as the snake-handled vase in the present lot. This shape was illustrated in the 1787 Ornamental Ware Catalogue. A vase of the same form as the pair in this lot is illustrated by Reilly, (ibid., p. 658, fig. 1010) together with an ewer, decorated with figures of Muses of the same design as those to this pair.
