2º (660 x 515 mm). 27 chromolithographic plates, including the title, frontispiece, and 2 portraits, after Simakov, Makovskii, Sokolov, Savitskii, Karazin, Polenov, Kramskoi, Vereshchagin, Makorov, Bogdanov, Grigor'ev, Aleksandrovskii, Surikov and Samokish, decorative initials and illustrations in the text, some chromolithographed, text printed in black, blue and red. (Dampstained, a few leaves torn into image/text) Publisher's original morocco backed cloth, upper side richly gilt with an all-over design, spine with Imperial regalia blocked in gilt, lower side blocked in blind, white moiré endpapers, edges gilt (worn and affected by damp).

Specialist note

The coronation album of Alexander III, illustrating the ceremonies and events in Moscow, was printed in a small edition for members of the Imperial family and foreign dignitaries participating in the celebrations on 15 May 1883.
