Georges Rouault (1871-1958)
Lot 328 Property from the Collection of Jacques Boussard

Christie’s is honored to offer three works from the collection of artist and collector, Jacques Boussard. Born in 1915, Boussard started drawing from a very young age. Despite his father’s attempt to encourage him to pursue a career in business, Boussard’s passion was for art. He embarked upon an artistic career, receiving praise for his artwork and exhibiting for the first time in 1933. In 1935, Boussard met art dealer Max Kaganovitch, who helped organize a major solo exhibition for the artist at his gallery later that year. Throughout his career, Boussard exhibited in seven solo shows at the Galerie Eugène Blot, Galerie Max Kaganovich, and Galerie Hélios in Paris, and in countless group exhibitions. Boussard was also an avid art collector and acquired works by various artists throughout his life, until his death in 1989.
