Specialist note

This elegant bibliothèque basse was almost certainly executed by Pierre-François-Henri Levasseur, dit ‘Levasseur Jeune’, grandson of Etienne Levasseur (1721-1798) one of the foremost cabinet-makers of Louis XVI’s reign, who took over the family workshop in 1823.
