The recipient of this painting is oil painter Yu Ben (Yee Bon, 1905-1995). Born in Taishan, Guangdong, he went to Canada to study
in 1918, and in 1931 studied art in Ontario School of Art. After he returned, he was the directorate of China Artist Association, art counsellor, and the vice president of the Guangdong Painting School.
