Specialist note

Features of this commode, suggest the authorship of Mayhew and Ince. The gadrooned moulding of the upper edge and the ribbon-tied reed moulding of the bottom edge are identical to those of a commode attributed to Mayhew and Ince, c. 1773 at The Lady Lever Art Gallery (See L. Wood, Catalogue of Commodes, London, 1994, p. 195, no. 22.
