the complete magazine number with various reproductions and text, containing Pharmacy, a rectified readymade with hand-colouring (after the original readymade of 1914), on wove papers, Pharmacy tipped to a support sheet (as issued), signed and dated in pencil on the support 'm.duchamp 45', numbered '20'/100', dedicated and dated on the front fly-leaf 'Pour Maurice Lefebvre mon sauveur Affectueusement Marcel Duchamp Paris 1946', signed by the contributing artists on the back fly-leaf, bound (as issued), original paper-covered boards, stamp-inscribed '20%' in red on the cover. 10 x 10 in. Specialist note

Marcel Duchamp gave this work to Maurice Lefèbvre-Foinet in 1946 to thank him for having secretly and safely kept his and Man Ray's works hidden during the Second World War. Maurice Lefèbvre-Foinet and Marcel Duchamp were very close friends, so much so that Lefèbvre-Foinet became the executor of Duchamp's estate after his death. With the signatures of the contributors, including: André Breton, Roberto Matta, Henriet and SidneyJanis, Joseph Cornell, Yves Tanguy, Maya Deren, Max Ernst, John Meyers, Julien Levy, Robert Allerton Parker, Mina Loy and Man Ray, amongst others.
