Specialist note

Accompanied by product literature, a Heuer presentation box and outer packaging.

In the world of vintage Heuer watches, finding excellent and unpolished examples with the original Gay Frères double grain beads of rice bracelets, box, and accompanying booklet is extremely unusual. The present watch offers one of those exceptionally rare opportunities, and the bracelet is stamped 3 69, indicating the year of manufacture.

Recently emerging from the original owner, the watch was worn sparingly over the years. At one point, the original owner had it serviced and sent the watch along the original information owner information written in the booklet as proof of purchase. When he received the watch back from service, he did not receive the original information back, hence why the booklet is missing the sale information in the back of it.

This Autavia has a “compressor” case, which was larger than its predecessors and was designed to have improved water-resistance. The lugs are distinctive and thick, with bevels that are sensitive to any form of polishing.

With the larger size case and legendary Valjoux 72 movement, the present watch has great wrist presence and strong collector appeal.
