Specialist note

U Lun Gywe is highly regarded and considered the old master of Myanmar paintings. He has been an inspiration and a mentor for generations of younger artists and was both an instructor and principal of the State School of Fine Arts in Yangon. His paintings are known for a masterful blend of colours and a strong sense of dynamism, flowing vibrantly through his canvasses. He refers to his style as ‘Myanmar Impressionism’ and is one of the most recognizable artists to emerge from the country.
